Creating a Plesk backup of your domain

How to create a Plesk domain backup in your BRI hosting control panel

 

Step 1: You will need to log into your BRI hosting control panel by doing the following:

A.) Open up a web browser and navigate to the following URL: https://www.brihosting.com/cp

B.) Once here, enter in your username and password that were sent to you by the “admin@brihosting.com” email address when your hosting package was created and click “Sign In” (the username will be the primary contact email address of the hosting package administrator).

 

Step 2:Once you have logged into your control panel, click on the “System” tab on the top left corner of the web page.

Step 3:Click on the “Back Up” link located under the “Domain” section of the left most column.

Step 4: You will now be on the “Backup Manager” page. Here you can initiate a back up, schedule a back up, upload files to the local repository as well as view any current backups that you have already created. In order to create a back up, click on “Backup Now”.

Step 5: Once you have clicked on “Backup now” you will be at the “Creating New Backup” screen. Here you can name your new backup, add details in the notes section for the backup and choose if you would like this backup to be multi volume. Fill in the information to your liking and then click “Backup Now”.

Step 6: Once you have clicked on “Backup Now” it will take you to the backup progress screen shown below. If you wish to cancel the backup creation process you can click on the cancel button at anytime (outlined in red in the below screenshot).

Step 7: When the backup has completed you will be shown a screen that includes all of the details regarding your newly created backup. After you have reviewed the details click on the “OK” button.

Step 8: After you hit the “OK” button on the previous screen you will taken back to the “Backup Manager” screen. Here you will be shown a list of any backups that have been created. If you click on filename for a backup, you can view all of the details for the backup and restore the backup by clicking on the restore button.

Step 9: If you wish to restore a backup, click on the filename of the backup that you created (outlined in red in the first screenshot above), now click on the restore button for that backup (outlined in red in the second screenshot above). You will then be taken to the domain restore page. Once here, you can choose the IP address of the server you wish to back up the domain to. Most likely your website will have a shared IP address so you will want to choose the only option available which is “”IP address” (Shared)” in the “Select destination IP” drop down box shown in the screenshot below. You will then want to click “Next”. If you have a dedicated IP address, be sure to choose that from the “Select destination IP” drop down box and then click “Next”.

Step 10: The backup of your domain name will have begun after clicking “Next” on the previous screen. You will now be at the “Progress of domain restore” page which is shown below. If you wish to cancel the restoration of this backup, simply click on the cancel button at anytime during the restore process.

Step 11: when the backup process for your domain has completed you will be taken to the below page. Click on the “OK” button (as shown in the below screenshot). You will now be at the “Backup manager” page. Here you can delete the backup file that you have just restored by clicking the checkbox next to the filename of the backup file and then clicking on the “Remove Selected” link which is located directly under the “Existing backup files” section shown below.

Step 12: After clicking on the “Remove Selected” link you will be taken to the “Removal confirmation” page. You will be asked to confirm the removal. Do this by checking the “Confirm removal” box under the file name of your back up and then click the “OK” button.

Step 13: You will now be taken back to the “Backup Manager” page. You have successfully deleted your backup.

 

You have successfully created a backup, restored a domain for the backup, and deleted the backup.
